I was born and raised in the Philippines. After finishing BSBA major in Computer Application, I worked as a Programmer for a plastic manufacturing company writing in-house programs that automate their system and evaluate their products.

I quit after 3 years and moved to New Jersey, USA. I was 25 years old then, and everything that I had planned changed.

Being knowledgeable in Computers, combined with passion for teaching, I decided to be a Computer Teacher in one of the Catholic Elementary schools here in our community. Consequently, I became the “Technical Guy” in our parish: from fixing computers, to web designing, to consulting.

Knowing that the school was in danger of closure, I transferred to another private Catholic K-8 school; this time in Union City, NJ, where I teach not only Computer, but also Mathematics. I also manage the school’s technology inventory apart from updating and maintaining their website.

Over four months ago as of this writing, I launched this site to help me express my thoughts, ideas, opinion, and observations. Most of my posts are connected to self-improvement and personal development.

Why “PlanetSaedel?”

There are now officially eight planets in the Solar System. Yep, eight. It was because Pluto was demoted in 2006. Astronomers voted that it is not a planet nor a moon. Too bad because I kind of liked the name “Pluto” as a planet.

Planet Saedel exists eventhough it is not officially in the Solar System. For the past 31 years, Planet Saedel was comprised mainly of clouds and water and remained out of orbit eventhough its size is dynamic: it can be as small as Mercury or as big as Jupiter depending on its season. There are also still nameless living stars that depend on the revolution of this shy planet that occasionally emits supernova from time to time.

But then suddenly, it finally found its orbit around the sun and other worlds. For how long, nobody knows.

This website/blog was created because I want to explore other planets and stars in the galaxy… I know Planet Saedel is not alone. So if you know of any planet struggling to find its orbit, let me know. Get discovered, because the sun does not shine on only eight worlds.

In the meantime, you are welcome to travel in my world.

Saedel: The Name

Saedel - that’s my first name. Eversince I was little, I know I have a unique, hard-to-pronounce name. Every start of school, the first thing that the teacher would ask me was: “How do you pronounce your name?” Then I would say my name the way my mother says it: SAI-DEL. When I was growing up, I learned that the correct way to say it is this: SAY-DEL. Slowly and correctly. That’s how my father calls me. And that’s how I say it now when asked how to pronounce it. (Still, people find it hard to say my name :P )

My name is very uncommon, particularly in my country of origin – the Philippines. It doesn’t look and sound like a Filipino name. So the second question is: “Where did your name come from?” It is a long story, but I’ll cut it short. It came from the combination of my father’s (Delfin) and mother’s (Susan) name.

When they were going steady back in the 70’s , the cool trend among couples was to create a name that symbolizes their bond and relationship. Therefore, Susan + Delfin = SADEL. Confusing isn’t it? Wait till you hear the names of my siblings, which I’m not going to tell right now. :P Let’s just say my parents are creative NAMErs. ;)

My last name is almost as unique as my firstname: Pensoy. Sounds like Chinese, but it’s not, although people say I look like one. SAEDEL PENSOY, how unique can it get? And to prove it, I googled my full name and found out the results are few, and they all pertain to me.
